The SEO tab provides tools to enhance your posts' visibility in search engine results. This tab is divided into three key sections: Post Description, SEO Plugins, and Description AI Generation.

Post Description

This section focuses on managing the meta description of your post – the snippet of text that often appears below your post title in search engine results pages (SERPs). Here, you will see the "Current Post Description" displayed in a text area.

  • View Current Description: The text area shows the description that is currently associated with your post. This might be automatically generated by your SEO plugin, or it might be a previously set custom description.

  • Set Custom Description: To create a more compelling and keyword-optimized description, you can directly edit the text within this area. Simply type in your desired custom description to replace the existing one.

  • Importance of SEO Plugin Integration: For your custom description to be effectively used by search engines and displayed in search results, it is crucial to have a compatible SEO plugin installed and active on your WordPress site. Popular SEO plugins like Yoast SEO provide the necessary framework for managing meta descriptions. Furthermore, you must enable SEO Integration in the SEO Plugins section below to connect the News Parser plugin to your chosen SEO plugin.

By crafting thoughtful and keyword-rich custom descriptions, you can significantly improve your post's click-through rate from search results and attract more organic traffic.

SEO Plugins

This section manages the integration with popular WordPress SEO plugins, allowing the News Parser plugin to interact with their SEO functionalities, particularly for managing post descriptions.

  • Enable SEO Integration: To activate the SEO plugin integration, locate the "Enable SEO Integration" checkbox and ensure it is checked. This is a prerequisite for the Post Description and Description AI Generation features to function correctly.

  • Select SEO Plugin: Once SEO Integration is enabled, a dropdown menu labeled "Select SEO Plugin" will become active. Choose the SEO plugin that you have installed and activated on your WordPress website from this dropdown. Supported SEO plugins may include:

    • Yoast SEO

    Selecting your SEO plugin establishes the necessary connection for the News Parser plugin to communicate with your SEO plugin and update post descriptions within its framework.

Description AI Generation

This section harnesses the power of Artificial Intelligence to help you create or refine your post descriptions, saving you time and potentially improving their SEO effectiveness.

  • Enable AI Description Generation: To use AI for description creation, ensure that the "Generate Description AI" option (likely a checkbox) is enabled within the plugin's settings (refer to the main documentation for AI settings). This activates the AI-powered description features within this section.

  • AI Provider and Model Selection: (These settings are typically configured globally in the plugin's AI settings, not specifically within this SEO tab. Refer to the AI settings documentation for details on selecting your AI provider and model.) The AI provider and model used for description generation are configured in the main AI settings of the News Parser plugin. Ensure you have selected your preferred AI provider and model there before using this feature.

  • Prompt Customization: This section likely provides a text area labeled "AI Prompt" or similar. Here, you can craft a prompt to guide the AI in generating your post description. Prompts are instructions you give to the AI to influence the style, tone, and content of the generated description.

  • Using the ${description} Placeholder: Within your AI prompt, you can utilize the special placeholder ${description}. When the AI description generation process runs, this placeholder will be dynamically replaced with the current post description (as displayed in the "Post Description" section above). This is incredibly useful for:

    • Refining Existing Descriptions: You can instruct the AI to rewrite, improve, or expand upon the existing description. For example, your prompt could be: "Rewrite the following description to be more engaging and keyword-rich: ${description}".

    • Contextual Generation: Even if there is no existing description, the placeholder will simply be replaced with an empty string. You can still use it to build prompts that are aware of the context, even if starting from scratch.
